LB-085 Bière de Garde - La Réine des Oiseaux

Our July 8, 2023 brew day was accompanied by the usual cheap bar food, but the stars of the day were house made bao buns, a faro salad (accompanied by house made ricotta) and a luscious cheesecake!

Now the beer.. we recently completed a Kölsch (LB-084), a German beer developed in the city of Cologne. LB-085 takes us west from Cologne to the far northwest of France for a Bière de Garde. This keeping beer melds French, Belgian and German influences to create what might be considered to be a malty saison. To further this melding of influences and as an experiment, we built our yeast starter using both a Kölsch and a French Saison yeast.  

Possibly one for the birds or for the queen of birds.
