LB-076 Safe Harbour - Baltic Porter 2021
A dark and stormy year demands someplace safe to rest your head and drink your beer. Welcome to the Safe Harbor, where you might get a little too drunk... if you're not careful.
Our second attempt at brewing a Baltic porter. We felt our first one was so successful that we had to try to recreate it with a few minor tweaks. This beer also represented an admission that we were fed up with Brew-in-a-bag. We broke out the whole gravity fed system, and sparged for the first time in almost 2 years.
Some comments on the quality of the brew:
Balanced with nuanced flavours of chocolate giving way to plum and fig. Delightful, especially, as it warms in the glass. No strong hop character and no off flavours. Extremely quaffable with no "alcohol" overtones - "Danger Will Robinson!" May continue to mature in the bottle but very drinkable today. - Killick
I feel it's a clean beer with a bit of malt up front and subtle hops. I am not sure if I am getting sweetness or medicinal as a secondary flavor. It may be my unrefined palate. I enjoy every sip. - Shift Happens
