Brewed Labor Day weekend with a hearty "Sparge Responsibly" toast to workers the world over. The Baltic Porter is a great example of transforming a style developed in one region to meet the needs of a new region.
Recipe: LB-059 Proletariat Baltic Porter
Developed as an English ale designed to accompany a worker's lunch and exported east through the the Baltics, the Porter changed from an ale to a lager. Along the way, the noble hops of northern Europe replaced the English hop profile and the alcohol content increased to align with those cold northern winters.
